Vernox Rising: An Update
It's been a while since we've posted, and I'm you can all appreciate why! With the ongoing Coronavirus Pandemic, Games between Squid and myself have had to be postponed due to a complete lockdown here in the UK. We were absolutely gutted, as we were scheduled to play on the weekend that all gaming stores were ordered to close!
But, we also understand that safety and the health of the general population is of paramount importance, so we welcome measures put in place to save lives and keep the nation safe.
But what does this mean for Vernox Rising? Well, it's an unusual one, and something we're still trying to figure out. As we're both now stuck at home with a lot of free time, we've both decided that we are now allowed to build and paint anything we desire. Previously, we were buying/building/painting only to update our armies unit by unit, but we've decided to use this opportunity to bolster our ranks, and already we've both been busy:
We've both been leaning on the hobby to provide a creative outlet, a way to fight the boredom of being stuck inside, and a great excuse to get some of our minis done!
In fact, Brapscallion has been so busy he's nearly at double battalion strength already!
As for what this means for the campaign and it's structure going forward, we don't know. We're unsure as to whether we'll keep to the format of rolling for units, or tailor the experience to provide a more narrative-based campaign. When we started this the structure and format of the games we planned to play were designed to accommodate us collecting armies, so we'll make a choice when we start back up again as to whether we focus on the gameplay, or the story. The one thing to understand though, is that we are still carrying on! We'll try and write more story and lore and unit focus articles whilst the lockdown continues, until we can finally pick up where we left off in the crumbling streets of Lessell.
Until that day comes, we hope you're all keeping safe, and being kind and considerate to everybody.
